Dr. Om Tantia, graduated from North Bengal Medical College and awarded Master of Surgery with special training in Pediatric Surgery at SMS Medical College & Sir Padmapat Mother & Child Hospital, Rajasthan. He was awarded Fellow of Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) England without examination, Fellow of American College of Surgeons (FACS).

He also received Fellow of Association of Minimal Access Surgeons of India, Fellow of International College of Surgeons and Founder Fellow of Association of Surgeons of India. Dr. Om Tantia is currently, Medical Director & Head of Department of Minimal Access & Bariatric Surgery in ILS Hospitals with its units at Kolkata and Agartala in India.

He got Life Membership of Association of Surgeons of India (ASI), Obesity & Metabolic Surgery Society of India (OSSI), Association of Minimal Access Surgeons of Indi (AMASI), Endoscopic & Laparoscopic Surgeons of Surgeons of Asia, Indian Endoscopic Society, Society of American Gastrointestinal Endo-surgeons, and Indian Medical Association Calcutta, North West. He is the Founder member of Hernia Society of India. His areas of interests are Minimal Access Surgery & Bariatric Surgery. He has vast experience in minimal access surgery and Bariatric Surgery for over 2 decades.

Dr. Om Tantia is currently, Medical Director & Head of Department of Minimal Access & Bariatric Surgery in ILS Hospitals with its units at Kolkata and Agartala in India. He is the Course Director and Examiner of Fellow of National Board in Minimal Access Surgery (National Board of Examination). He is the Immediate Past President of Association of Minimal Access Surgeons of India (AMASI), Governing Council Member of Association of Surgeons of India (ASI), and Founder Member Executive Committee of Indian Association of Gastrointestinal Endo-Surgeons (IAGES). He is the Honorary Visiting Consultant of B.R. Singh Hospital, Kolkata.

He was awarded with multiple orations such as Presidential Oration in AMASICON 2012, Dr. N. Pattanaik Memorial Oration 2011 at Sambalpur, Odisha, Prof. R. Prasad Memorial Oration 2008 and so on. He published more than 27 articles in national and international journals and edited four books and made education CDs on various basic and advanced procedures.

He has conducted multiple conferences, more than 50 Workshops, presented over 150 papers. He has been the guest lecturer and faculty member in various conferences & workshops in India & abroad. He attended as faculty in various national & international conferences and delivered lectures on various topics.
