Completed MS (General Surgery) – 1993 – IPGME&R, Kolkata and has been performing advanced Laparoscopic Surgery since 1999 and is currently Associate Professor, Dept. of Surgery & In-Charge Minimal Invasive Surgery Unit, R. G. Kar Medical College, Kolkata.
Prof. Tamonas Chaudhuri graduated from B. S Medical College, Bankura Medical College and was awarded Master of Surgery by the University of Calcutta after successful training at Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education and Research, Kolkata, India. He joined in West Bengal Medical Education since at the age of thirty at R G Kar Medical College, Kolkata.
He was actively involved in Surgical Education and patient care. He conceptualized and developed Minimal Invasive Surgery Unit at R G Kar Medical College, Kolkata and acted as In-charge for more than three years. He is one of the pioneers in progression of Minimal Access Surgery in Government Institution in West Bengal. He has published fifteen articles in different national & international journal.
He area of interest being Minimal Access Surgery and he got trained at GEM Hospital, Coimbatore, India and Sir Gangaram Hospital, New Delhi where Prof. Palanivelu was his mentor. Now he is the Secretary of Minimal Access Surgeons of India, Governing Council Member of Association of Surgeons of India. He was involved national disaster management like Flood relief, Aila at Sunderban.
Currently he is associated as Consultant Surgeon at ILS Hospitals, Kolkata. Besides, being a Professor of Surgery and as a senior faculty in this field he organizes training programs and courses for Surgical Skill Development. He is also the examiner of different universities in India and assessor of Medical Council of India.
