  • How is this surgery done?

    By Laparoscopy with 4-5 tiny punctures on your tummy.
  • When am I admitted and discharged?

    You will be admitted a day before the surgery, operated the next day and back home usually the 4th operative day.
  • When can I resume my office?

    We allow you to go to office within 10 – 14 days.
  • When can I start walking?

    You are encouraged to walk 4-5 hours after operation.
  • How much food am I able to take post surgery?

    You will be able to eat enough food required for your body. Quantity of the food will decrease but the quality will be more nutritious. Eating more frequently though in small quantity . We must make sure that you take adequate amount of fluid in whatever form.
  • What could happen if I don’t follow one or more dietary guidelines?

    Guidelines are designed to improve the chance of long term success in weight loss. If you don’t follow the guidelines, you may not lose or maintain the loss of the estimated 70 to 80 percent of excess body weight. You may experience complications such as vomiting, diarrhea or malnutrition after surgery.
  • When can I drive?

    Usually after 2 weeks.
  • When can one become pregnant?

    Normally we advice not to take pregnancy for at least 1.5 - 2 years.
  • How much weight should I lose?

    We expect you to lose weight at around 80% of EBW at the end of 2 years. However, maximum weight loss occurs during the first 6 months.
  • Will I have to do exercise?

    Yes, we encourage you to do exercise because it prevents muscle loss , toning up of the muscles and promotes good weight loss.
  • What one should do in case if there is lose skin post surgery?

    When one loses fat, skin tends to become lose similar to one sees after pregnancy and childbirth. Those who perform exercise and have massage etc regain their skin toned after childbirth, similarly here also if the patient does proper exercise and massage, the skin tone is regained to a great extent. However, excess skin if cosmetically desired can be removed after 1 and 1.5 years.
  • What portion of stomach is cut or removed?

    Different people have different stomach size. We create a new stomach size of around 80-100 ml capacity.
  • Is there any risk of developing hernia post surgery?

    There is a chance of developing hernia after any surgery. However, because of weight loss after bariatric surgery the chances of developing incisional hernia is comparatively low.
